The Mascoutah Historical Society was founded in 1976 as a Bicentennial project. The Mascoutah Heritage Museum, operated by the Society, is housed in the former Jenkins Business Forms building, a ca 1859-1860 three- story brick structure given to the Society in June 2003. After two years of renovation and restoration, the Museum opened to the public on July 9, 2005.
In anticipation of the arrival of the Smithsonian’s Key Ingredients: America by Food, Society members have been busy preparing displays, contacting presenters and planning programs for our visitors. There will be no admission charged for those visiting the Museum and the events scheduled there. A great deal of support in money, treasurres for the museum, and donated time was given to the Society for the restoration of the building by organizations and individuals. Free admission is a gift in return.
